Siddharoodha Math

HUBLI: A large number of people from various religions took part in the annual car festival of Sri Siddharoodh Swamiji here on Friday.

The “ratha yatra” of Sri Siddharoodh Swamiji marks the end of the weeklong annual “Jatra Mahotsava”. After performing rituals in the presence of the office-bearers of Siddharoodh Math Trust Committee, the decorated car with the statue of Sri Siddharoodha Swamiji was pulled by devotees amidst shouting of slogans and chanting of “Om namah Shivaya”. Folk troupes performed during the procession.

The stretch between “Gadduge” of Sri Siddharoodh Swamiji and “Mahadwara” of the math was crowded. Many people watched the “ratha yatra” from the roof of their houses and buildings on the road.

The police had made elaborate security arrangements for the event. There were restrictions on the movement of vehicles on the roads leading to the math.

The math had organised weeklong cultural programmes and religious discourses on the occasion.
